TOPICS OF INTEREST : Energy transition moving to a decarbonised energy system
WHICH TECHNOLOGY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DISRUPT THE CURRENT STATUS QUO IN YOUR FIELD? Solar, wind, biogas, hydro, hydrogen, loT, BigData, Blockchain
VISIONS FOR THE FUTURE OF ENERGY : Sustainable, affordable, fully decarbonised, efficiently used, all energy carriers are fully interconnected
EXCITING CURRENT PROJECTS : I am helping to define the project, Vision of our Energy system in 2050, in Europe and beyond.
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE LIKED TO KNOW WHEN YOU STARTED YOUR CAREER IN ENERGY? Having an ambition about what we (or our humanity) can do. To also have a vision and persistence is essential. Women should never feel inferior and are able to succeed as well!
coo innogy innovation hub
TOPICS OF INTEREST : Blockchain, digital disruption, globalisation, E-mobility
WHICH TECHNOLOGY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DISRUPT THE CURRENT STATUS QUO IN YOUR FIELD? Many, layered together; I like the combination of financial tech and energy peer to peer (e.g. mobile money plus blockchain based trading)
VISIONS FOR THE FUTURE OF ENERGY : Sustainable, affordable, sufficient, efficient!
EXCITING CURRENT PROJECTS : Investing in digital disruption in the new leapfrog markets
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE LIKED TO KNOW WHEN YOU STARTED YOUR CAREER IN ENERGY? Focus on user needs: they represent markets. Tech is cool but on its own it isn’t worth as much as if it can help someone live a better life
EVP Strategy, New Business & Digital, Engie Asia pacific
TOPICS OF INTEREST : Energy access, energy communities, microgrids, shift of energy superpowers from oil-rich to sun & wind-rich countries
WHICH TECHNOLOGY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DISRUPT THE CURRENT STATUS QUO IN YOUR FIELD? New generation batteries
VISIONS FOR THE FUTURE OF ENERGY : Abundant, green & available anytime and anywhere
EXCITING CURRENT PROJECTS : Energy access projects with corporate investment and cutting edge technology
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE LIKED TO KNOW WHEN YOU STARTED YOUR CAREER IN ENERGY? That it is highly complex and diverse, full of innovation. Though we think it’s a man’s business, women who enter the energy business usually stick around and can make it to the top – much more likely than in banking
FUTURE LEADERS
Energy Demand & Economic Growth Associate
TOPICS OF INTEREST : Energy generation (in terms of Myanmar communities), Usage of data on energy
WHICH TECHNOLOGY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DISRUPT THE CURRENT STATUS QUO IN YOUR FIELD? Decentralised energy systems that are managed locally through advanced monitoring technology are able to power household consumption, commercial activities and industrial processes. Electronic payment systems and various technologies enable consumers to be able to use energy when in need (i.e. through consumption management and flexible tariff systems). These are crucial factors to advancing the decentralised energy sector.
VISIONS FOR THE FUTURE OF ENERGY : To have reliable and affordable energy service that is not dependent on fossil fuels but on indigenous resources that are location specific. The generation of electricity would be in proximity to customers who can use or store or even to sell the energy at their disposal.
EXCITING CURRENT PROJECTS : Rural Electrification in Myanmar
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE LIKED TO KNOW WHEN YOU STARTED YOUR CAREER IN ENERGY? I am hardly ready to give an advice yet. But, in general, I would have liked to know about where to access resources on available technologies for off-grid electrification. It would also have been great to have a community of women professionals who I can seek opinions and/or advices from.
CO-FOUNDER OF RESYNC
TOPICS OF INTEREST : Renewable Energy, Power and Energy Control, Microgrids, Disruption, Modern grids, Startups, Hardware startup
WHICH TECHNOLOGY HAS THE POTENTIAL TO DISRUPT THE CURRENT STATUS QUO IN YOUR FIELD? Technologies that address too much of renewable energy in the grid
VISIONS FOR THE FUTURE OF ENERGY : I think we can move to at least 50% renewable energy in next 10 years
EXCITING CURRENT PROJECTS : Smart solutions for energy generation management
WHAT WOULD YOU HAVE LIKED TO KNOW WHEN YOU STARTED YOUR CAREER IN ENERGY? I majored in electrical engineering in my bachelors at IIT, Varanasi. I worked with an oil company for 2 years before moving to Singapore for a Ph.D. in power and energy. I worked on making deployment of renewable energy easier during my PhD. I have translated that research to industry application through my startup Resync. At Resync, we do energy management for systems with multiple energy sources like solar, batteries, diesel generators, and grid.
