What is the specific problem you are addressing?

The future belongs to renewable energies and clean mobility - most would agree. EVs offer convincing solutions for both challenges - but still, they are hardly anywhere to be found in day-to-day traffic. This is mainly due to a lack of charging infrastructure, as most charging infrastructure solutions are just too expensive for a ubiquitous roll-out to be economically feasible. ubitricity is tackling this problem with an innovative and completely novel idea: the mobile electricity meter.

What is your offering and how does it transform/disrupt the energy sector?

ubitricity offers comprehensive solutions for EV charging that are based on a completely novel technology: the mobile electricity meter. This mobile meter is integrated into the charging cable, turning into an intelligent charging cable: the SmartCable. Users close a mobile electricity contract for their cable and charge everywhere with this fixed tariff - and, of course, 100% green electricity. The matching charging spots, the ubitricity SimpleSockets, are so small and compact that they can be installed practically everywhere - even integrated into street furniture, such as street lights. And what's more: they come at an extremely reasonable price, offering up to 90% cost reductions in comparison to standard charging infrastructure. The service is completed by the automatic data administration and billing process: users receive one single invoice by the end of the month containing all their charging transactions, metered and billed down to the exact kWh.
